A NEW Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner has been appointed for Warwickshire.

The decision to appoint Emma Daniell won the support of the Warwickshire Police and Crime Panel at a special confirmation hearing last week where members were able to fire questions to her, before voting unanimously to endorse the Police and Crim Commissioner Philip Seccombe’s selection.

Mrs Daniell has an extensive knowledge of policing, having served as a police officer in another force area for 16 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant.

In that time, she worked in several roles – including in operational and neighbourhood teams, as well as in staff office.

She said she is committed to listening to, and working with, communities by engaging with victims and other priority groups such as young people.

PCC Seccombe said: “Emma will make a formidable deputy and I very much look forward to working with her.

“Her experience as a former police officer will no doubt serve her well and I firmly believe having her as deputy will provide me, and the office, with the necessary resilience and capacity to do our very best for the residents of Warwickshire while also helping to ensure Warwickshire Police is a quality and trusted force.”

Emma added: “I am really excited to be working alongside Philip and can’t wait to get started in the role.

“I know we are both absolutely committed to working hard on behalf of Warwickshire’s communities and I look forward to having the opportunity to support our dedicated police officers, staff and volunteers, alongside getting to know our community leaders, to better understand how we can meet their needs while protecting the people of Warwickshire from harm.”

Emma will take up her new role on May 9.
