THE former Studley South and Sambourne district councillor Nick Moon is to stand in the by-election called to replace him following his resignation in January.
Mr Moon, who served an eight-month tenure for the Conservative Party, quit his post after becoming frustrated at the slow pace of progress at both parish and district level.
However, he has now decided to stand as an Independent in the forthcoming by-election, which will cost taxpayers an estimated £2,500, on Thursday, February 25.
In his manifesto Mr Moon says hopes to bring a more ‘cutting edge’ approach.
“I want to continue doing what I was already doing well but without the hassle of party politics. ‘Making things happen without the politics’ will be my slogan,” he said.
Also vying for the seat are Paul Beaman (Cons), Nigel Rogers (Ukip), Karen Somner-Brown (Lab), and Hazel Wright (Lib Dem).
Polling stations will be open at The Church Hall in Sambourne and The Village Hall in Studley from 7am to 10pm.
The result will be posted on Stratford District Council’s website and on Twitter at @SDCElects.
The council is currently made up of 30 Conservatives, three Lib Dems, one Labour and one Independent.
