RACHEL MACLEAN SAYS:
“FROM the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for re-electing me as your Member of Parliament.
It really is the honour of my life to be your MP and I will work incredibly hard to repay the faith you have placed in me.
Whether you voted for me or not, I am here to represent everyone and that’s what I will continue to do.
I knocked on thousands of doors during the campaign and consistently, and not surprisingly, two big issues would come up – Brexit and the Alexandra Hospital.
On Brexit we will now get it done so that we can finally leave the European Union on January 31.
I’m fully aware that I still represent constituents who didn’t vote for me and do not want Brexit to happen, but I hope they can understand that by voting for a deal we can leave the EU in a smooth and orderly which is good for jobs, businesses and the economy.
One issue which unites the majority of people in our town is the return of services to the Alex.
Having received 63 per cent of the vote in the election, I will walk into the meeting with local health bosses with a strong mandate to get a maternity and children’s service back at our town’s hospital.
There can be no denial from health bosses that there is no public support for services to be returned.
The people of Redditch have never and will never accept that services have been removed.
This work begins immediately and I won’t stop until our goal has been achieved.”
