FAMILIES in Redditch have the opportunity to get active together as a result of a new project at venues across the town.
From this Monday, September 24, families with children aged five to 11 can take part in sports and activity sessions completely free.
As well as the activities, there will also be a healthy snack provided for everyone who takes part. There is no need to book, just turn up.
The Active Families sessions, which have been set up by the council’s Sports Development Team, will include a wide range of sports and fun activities and are designed to get families across the district up and moving as well as spending time together.
The sessions will be run 5pm to 6.30pm Monday to Friday at five different locations across the borough:
Monday – Oakenshaw Community Centre,
Tuesday – Windmill Community Centre,
Wednesday – Christ Church in Matchborough,
Thursday – Winyates Green Community Centre and
Friday – Batchley Community Centre
Councillor Mike Rouse, whose portfolio covers Leisure and Cultural Services, said: “Usually as a parent you end up watching your kids at after school clubs from the sidelines.
“This project is fantastic because it will allow entire families to have fun, get fit and spend valuable time together.”
The project is supported by Sport England funding from the national Lottery.
Just turn up to any session, but more information is available at www.redditchbc.gov.uk/activefamilies or by calling Chris Wells on 01527 534008.
