GET FIT in Redditch with all new fitness Thursdays at The Windmill Centre with a range of Community Exercise classes to try.
Residents looking to get fitter and healthier through the council’s Community Classes can head on over to The Windmill Centre (Rye Grass Ln, B97 5YE) each Thursday to take part in a variety of different sessions.
The classes include Over 50’s Keep Fit at 10am, Strength, Balance, and Mobility at 11am, Strong and Steady for Falls Preventions at 12pm and Joint Effort for people living with arthritis at 1pm.
The Thursday timetable now also includes a new addition, Living Lung at 2pm, a session which was previously run in Batchley.
Portfolio holder for leisure services, Coun Jo Beecham, said: “We want our residents to know that there is always an option when it comes to their health and getting more active.
“Our community classes are affordable, even in these hard times, and are specifically designed to support users of all shapes, sizes, ages, and abilities, as well as those with health issues. If you’re interested but want to know more, please get in touch and our team can advise you on what is best to meet your needs.”
The Council’s community exercise classes are designed to be accessible to residents who might be uncomfortable with or unable to access privately run exercise sessions in the usual way.”
The classes are pay as you go and most charge around £4 per person per session (apart from Strong and Steady which is free and funded by PHE) which for many people makes them more accessible than needing a membership to take part but still provides an opportunity to get fit and have fun.
Elderly or vulnerable residents in need of support with transport to get to these classes can do so through accessing the council run service Dial a Ride.
