Get fit this September in Redditch

RESIDENTS feeling inspired to get fitter after a summer filled with lots of major sporting events are being encouraged to take up community exercise classes by the councils Sports Development Team.

From the Lionesses winning the Women’s 2022 Euros to Wimbledon and the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, it has already been an exciting summer of major events which often encourages viewers to want to improve their own activity levels, get fitter and be healthier.

The council’s Sports Development Team are urging more people to take up community exercise classes as a first step towards increasing their fitness.

The team offer activities such as active seniors, walks for health, Strong and Steady, Joint Effort, Zumba Gold, Rounders, Walking Football, ladies only 50+ sessions and others.

All community exercise classes will be absolutely free for the first two weeks of September.

Hayley Gwilliam, physical activity development officer, said: “If you’ve been inspired by a summer of sport and want to start getting fitter and more active, our community classes could be ideal for you.

“For some people it can be difficult or daunting to join a privately run class which cater to the masses. Our sessions are specifically designed to be accessible and fun for all and cover a wide variety of activities. So come along and start your journey today.”
