PEOPLE are being encouraged to get out, get walking and get talking at Arrow Valley parkrun in Redditch this weekend and be part of the biggest walking weekend ever.
Let’s Walk day is a nationwide scheme by parkrun and headline partner Vitality to celebrate the simple, yet powerful act of walking.
Starting at 9am on Saturday, April 26, the walk is free to take part in.
A spokesperson for Arrow Valley parkrun said: “We invite everyone to come along and start their weekend by walking at Arrow Valley parkrun this weekend.
“Bring your family and friends with you.
“If you want to run or volunteer you can do that too – it’ll be the same parkrun experience we enjoy every weekend, but hopefully with a few more walkers.”
Let’s Walk’ at parkrun is all about making that welcoming environment even more visible, the emphasis is on inclusivity, not speed, and walking has always been an important part of the parkrun experience.
New research commissioned by Vitality found that half of Brits (50 per cent) say they walk further when deep in conversation, while 27 per cent walk for longer when they are with someone else.
Despite knowing the benefits of walking, a staggering 35 per cent of Brits surveyed say they struggle to find someone to walk with.
