A TEAM of dog-lovers at a Redditch-based loft conversion specialist were in the festive spirit this Christmas, donning novelty jumpers in aid of a national charity which pairs assistance dogs with people in need.

Kind-hearted staff at Charles Grosvenor held a Christmas Jumper Day at their Birchfield Road offices on December 21, raising more than £200 for Dogs for Good.

On Tuesday (January 12) Kathy Hancock, and her assistance dog Gilbert, travelled from Evesham to meet with Charles Grosvenor employees to collect a cheque for £220 on behalf of the charity.

Kathy, who is partially deaf, has had Gilbert for seven years thanks to Dogs for Good which trains canines, such as nine-year-old Gilbert, to help around the home.

Clever Gilbert can even understand Kathy when she signs to him and impressed staff at Charles Grosvenor by sitting or lying down at her command.

Dogs for Good, which was originally called Dogs for the Disabled, now provides animals for people living with a range of illnesses including Dementia, Alzheimer’s and Autism along with sending community dogs into Special Educational Needs schools.
