A REDDITCH charity music festival has donated the first of a series of grants to grassroots groups in the borough.

Since GlastonBeoley began in 2018, those behind it have managed to donate over £45K to local and national causes.

Following the successful festival in the summer of 2022, the first round of funding was donated to Peter Martin at Redditch Self Defence and Youth Engagement.

Part of Peter’s work includes visiting schools in and around Redditch and Bromsgrove, teaching youngsters the dangers of carrying weapons.

He is currently on target to reach out to 6,000 pupils in schools and colleges in the local area by the end of 2022.

He also works closely with West Mercia Police, undertaking one-to-one sessions.

Kevin Joynes from GlastonBeoley said: “We wanted to be able to donate to smaller groups and charities in and around Redditch which do outstanding work to make a difference.

“Peter works tirelessly  for a great cause, and we are really pleased to be able to support him.”

Peter added: “We’d like to thank GlastonBeoley for their backing.

“This grant has allowed us to undertake a project that will have a vital impact on youngsters in the local area.”

GlastonBeoley 2023 has been scheduled for June 30 and July 1, 2023, with the venue to be announced soon.
