GlastonBeoley takes to Spacehive to raise cash for next year's two day event

A CHARITY music festival has taken to Spacehive to raise the cash for next year’s two day event.

From small beginnings GlastonBeoley has proved so popular its outgrown its original Beoley base to find a new home at The Portway, home of Birmingham Solihull Rugby Club.

In the process GlastonBeoley has raised tens of thousands of pounds for good causes.

With its charitable status underlined by becoming a Community Interest Company, the search is now on to collect the finances for next year’s festival at the home of The Bees after this year’s event was cancelled.

“As you can imagine, fundraising opportunities have been few and far between which is why we’ve teamed up with Spacehive,” said festival director Debbie Joynes.

Normally the GlastonBeoley team would raise all the money to pay for everything themselves, from the stages to lighting, sound system and loos, but this hasn’t been possible in the pandemic.

Now they’re hoping to raise just under £11,000 in 90 days through the online platform.

“We’ve still got some money in the pot following the cancellation of this year’s festival and, as long as it’s safe, we’ll put one on next year by hook or by crook, but if we could get some money in it would help,” said Debbie.

“These are difficult times for everyone but we’ve been buoyed by concession stalls for this year’s festival telling us to keep their pitch fees for next year and hopefully in the new year things will loosen up.”
