RESIDENTS and staff at St David’s House in Batchley are celebrating the completion of works to their newly-transformed garden thanks to the efforts of local Councillor Gemma Monaco and J Tomlinson Ltd.

Coun Monaco, working alongside local resident Lucy Harrison, worked with Tomlinson on the garden plan as part of the ‘Considerate Constructors’ scheme.

The firm is currently building the new Holyoakes Field First School in Brockhill East and staff were delighted to help.

The Considerate Constructors scheme encourages companies to engage in projects within the local community.

Tomlinson staff spent a week clearing old tree roots and wooden structures, grading and prepping the otherwise unusable planting areas, creating a new shed base and clearing and jet-washing the patio.

“The end result is fantastic and, on behalf of the residents and staff here at St David’s, I would like to sincerely thank J Tomlinson for helping to create this much more user-friendly garden,” said Coun Monaco.

Tony Shenton managing director (Construction) at J Tomlinson added: “We are is passionate about giving back to the local communities in which we work and we are pleased to have been involved in enhancing the garden area at St David’s House.”
