REDDITCH Triathlon Club is holding a ‘Go Tri’ event to attract more people to the sport, writes Sophie Wheeler.
The club has organised a race on Sunday, April 22 as a taster for beginners.
Located at the Abbey Stadium Sports Centre swimming pool, running track and surrounding roads, Go Tri will let people see if the sport is for them.
And to keep costs down and attract more people the price has been kept to £9.40 which includes a day membership of the club.
Spokeswoman Hayley Gwilliam, said: “It’s classed as a Go Tri which means we have taken out all the frills and kept the cost as low as possible.
“It will include a 400metre swim followed by an 11kilometre bike ride and a 2.5kilometre run on the running track and tarmac.
“Our aim is to make a triathlon as welcoming to new people as possible, sharing our success stories – and nightmares.”
Entrants need to be at least 18 and registration opens at 3.15pm on the day.
