Government announces funding to help with the cost of living

Redditch Editorial 17th May, 2024   0

FOLLOWING the extension of the Household Support Fund from April to September, Worcestershire County Council has received a further £3,9million to provide support to vulnerable families.

Rachel Maclean, MP for Redditch has welcomed the cash boost.

She has previously held cost of living drop-in events to ensure her constituents are claiming and receiving the help they’re entitled to.

This funding takes the total level of support provided to Worcestershire residents to £23.6million.

She said: “I know the cost of living remains a top concern for many residents, which is why the Government continues to provide targeted support for families with our £94 billion cost of living package, worth £3,300 on average per household.

“As part of that targeted support, the Household Support Fund has been extended until September, providing help to vulnerable households with the cost of essentials such as food and utilities while inflation continues to fall.”
