Grandmother brings Christmas joy to Webheath

A GRANDMOTHER has brought Christmas joy to Webheath for the third year in a row by decorating the tree in her driveway.

Last year Heathfield Road resident, Finola Pearson, asked people to donate small gifts to a memory tree at the front of her drive.

This year she’s back with a festive display, hoping to bring Christmas cheer to everyone in her community.

She said: “So many people have been sad this year, and over the past couple of years the decorations have really cheered people up.

“I thought to myself: I want to make people happy and bring a smile to their faces.”

Finola used to decorate the tree every year with her husband until he passed away.

For a long time afterwards she couldn’t bear the thought of doing it without him and decided to put an end to the tradition.

But after seeing how many school children walked past her house, she decided to give it another go.

She dusted off her old ladder, scaled the tree, and began decorating once again.

It was a huge success and, just like this year, has brought a smile to many who pass by.
