THERE was a changing of the guard at the 56th annual general meeting of the Alcester Civic Society when Lord Hertford retired as chairman after serving an unprecedented 20 years in the post.
However he will be staying on as a member and a staunch supporter of all that ACS does.
In his standing down speech he stated how important he felt it was for Alcester to have a Civic Society, and reflected on all that ACS had achieved since its beginning in 1962.
On behalf of the Society, the incoming chairman, Brian King, presented Lord Hertford with a beautiful framed watercolour, a token of the Society’s gratitude for his long service.
A delicious celebratory cake was also shared by all attending the AGM.
