MAJOR improvements to the green at Inkberrow Bowls Club have resulted in a successful outdoor season culminating in the annual Championship Finals.
The President’s Cup went to Andy Merrick for the second successive year.
The cup is awarded each year to the winner of the mixed singles and Andy took the trophy with a 23-13 victory over Liz Yeates.
But Liz did not leave the finals weekend empty handed – she scored victory of her own.
Liz became the ladies’ singles champion with a 23-12 win over last year’s winner Geraldine Slater.
The men’s singles title went to Ian Humphray who beat club captain Len Phillips 21-14 in that final.
Ian now qualifies for next year’s Worcestershire Champion of Champions competition.
Andy added to his trophy tally when he teamed up with Angela Webster and Len Phillips to win the mixed triples final, while Jill Nash and John Bradley took the mixed pairs title.
Alan Slater, Inkberrow Bowls Club President said: “We’re a friendly club that welcomes new bowlers and complete novices.
“Our short mat season starts at the end of the month and runs through the winter on Wednesday mornings and Friday evenings.”
The trophies will be presented at the Club’s annual awards lunch in November.
