GARDEN waste collections are to re-start from next week across Redditch.
The council made the difficult decision to suspend the service just over a month ago due to the coronavirus pandemic but is now in a position to restart the service.
Collections for current garden waste customers will re-commence on Tuesday, May 5 as per the original household schedule.
Crews will only be collecting loose (no plastic bags) and correct garden waste contained within the brown bins and will not be accepting any side waste to ensure they can complete their rounds as scheduled.
Residents are asked to support crews by storing any surplus garden waste and gradually adding it to their brown bin to be taken in future collections.
The service will only be available to existing customers in the short-term, with expectations to open up to new customers in the coming weeks.
Matt Austin, environmental services manager, said: “We’d like to thank all of our garden waste customers for bearing with us during this unprecedented time.
“We are aware you may have extra garden waste at the moment but please support our fantastic crews and your fellow residents, by only leaving your wheeled bin out for collection and not any additional side waste.
“If you have extra please gradually add this bit by bit for future collections to ensure that we can get round all of our customers and enable us to catch up with the service, as we will not have capacity to clear all of this at once.
“We appreciate your understanding and co-operation at this difficult time.”
