Gun fear after woman is robbed in the Winyates Centre in Redditch

POLICE arre appealing for witnesses or information following a robbery in Redditch.

The incident happened at around 10.50pm on Friday night (November 5) when a woman got off a bus at Winyates Centre and walked down the footpath which leads past the community centre.

As she got to the first junction on the footpath, which splits leading to Fownhope Close on the right and Winforton Close on the left, she was approached by a man who demanded she hand over her mobile phone and handbag.

The victim reported that the suspect was carrying a gun and the thug made off with her black handbag, black purse and a white Samsung S5 in a black leather case.




The suspect then ran off in the direction of Winforton Close.

He is described as having dark hair, aged between 25-35 and of a medium build.


He was believed to be between 5’6” to 5’7” tall, and was described as wearing a light-coloured top and a cream-coloured face covering.

Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, or noticed anyone acting suspiciously in the area.

Detective Constable Stacey Keogh said: “This was a frightening incident for the victim and we are extremely keen to trace the offender as soon as possible.

“We would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have any information to please call us on 101, quoting incident number 786S of November 5, 2016. Any information, no matter how small, could help our investigation.”
