Redditch Editorial 10th May, 2018   0

TO celebrate 400 years, local residents are being invited to explore further the history of Alcester’s Town Hall with a talk, followed by two Open Days.

After a very successful first sell out talk on the construction of Alcester Town Hall and its sponsor Fulke Greville III, the town hall committee has organised a further talk and two more Open Days.

The talk will be given by Ian Greig, on Friday, May 11 and will look at not only the original design, but also the ways in which it has been modernised through the centuries and some of the personalities involved.

The talk promises some interesting insights into the events and functions it has hosted ranging from dispensing justice to national politics and concerts.

The two Open Days are on May 12 and 13 from 10am to 4pm where visitors will have the chance to see an exhibition on the many changes the Town Hall has seen in its 400-year history.

On display will be some interesting records and photographs and a chance to explore the inside of this unique Grade 1 listed building.

Tickets for the Town Hall talk are £5 to include wine and cheese are available from Venue Xpresso, while the Open Days are free.
