Hanbury show next - Hunters Hill joy after Three Counties success

HUNTERS Hill College in Blackwell enjoyed a successful trip to this year’s Royal Three Counties Show.

Staff and students decided it would be a good idea to take animals from their school farm to compete at the livestock event.

Hunters Hill has had an established farm since September 2016 – complete with pigs, sheep and poultry.

After a lot of hard work, this year’s show turned out to be the most successful outing yet. Joe the sheep won ‘Reserve Breed Champion’ and two Black Leicester lambs placed first and second in their specific class.

Rural science teacher Hayley Simpkin said: “The success was down to the hard work students put into looking after and training their animals.

“We also had students involved in preparing material for the display around the sheep’s pen at the show.”

Hayley added: “Next stop for the students will be the pig section at the Hanbury Show on July 7 where they will once again compete.”

Hunters Hill College is a specialist school which deals with children who have special needs.
