Have a heart to help Redditch's Indigo Arts hit target

Ross Crawford 29th Jan, 2017   0

A MAJOR drive has been launched by Indigo Hearts – the fund-raising arm of Redditch’s very own Indigo Arts.

Indigo Arts have flown the flag for the borough at places far and wide, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival – where they received a rapturous welcome – as well as performing dance, theatre, music and more within the town itself.

Recently moved into offices in the Kingfisher Centre, they have now set out to transform the premises into the studios of their dreams.

Director Cathy Moss said they were appealing for at least one person per month to run an independent fund-raising event for Indigo, to help them raise money for their Arts Lab development.

“It could be a coffee morning, a garage sale, a sponsored silence, a cake sale, anything you fancy . . . get as imaginative as you like!” she said.

“All you have to do is pick your month and let us know what you intend to do. We can provide you with a poster kit, and help with promotion if you need it and we will add you to our timetable of pledges for the year.”

There are a number of projects Indigo needs to work on to develop the Arts Lab and resource it for the community.

These include a performance/rehearsal space and an audio/visual studio, as well as improving accessibility. This means raising money through donations and grant applications to buy things like dance floor, sound proofing, screens and a truss for lighting.

One of the major targets is to raise the money for a platform lift – estimated at £15,000 – so it is accessible to disabled members.”

“It is simply a case of us working to the funds we do raise,” said Cathy.

“If we complete elements of the plans in bite sized pieces then absolutely every little helps us move one step forward.”
