A WANTED poster has been issued in the hope residents will be able to spot a rare butterfly.
The brown hairstreak butterfly is known to live in Redditch and previous appeals in the Standard have seen people coming forward with pictures and information.
But now West Midlands Butterfly Conservation members are hoping to find out how established the species has become in the borough with the help of readers and the poster appeal.
Simon Primrose, brown hairstreak champion, said: “We are keen to find out, with the support of the local community, just how far into the town the butterfly has managed to colonise.
“The butterfly has already been reported this year from the Astwood Bank area and we think there is a good chance of further sightings within the town, especially on the southern and western side.”
E-mail [email protected] with any pictures and information about sightings of the butterfly.
