Have your say on plans for cycling, walking and wheeling in Redditch

Redditch Editorial 24th Sep, 2024   0

RESIDENTS are being asked to give their opinion of the cycling and walking routes in Redditch.

To improve connectivity within the town and encourage people to choose a more convenient and healthy way to travel, Worcestershire County Council is asking people to help influence a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) for Redditch.

LCWIP is a Central Government scheme which asks local authorities to put together a long-term strategic approach for the walking and cycling infrastructure required across an area.

Coun Marc Bayliss, Worcestershire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “We want to get valuable insight from residents to ensure improvements are delivered where they are most needed.”

“The aim is to create a long-term plan that looks at how best to improve the cycling, walking and wheeling network across Redditch, taking into account the varying needs of where people want to go.

“We’d like cycling, walking and wheeling to be the natural choice for short trips such as getting to school, commuting, and connecting to the railway station.

“Through Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans, we aim to invest in making changes that make walking and cycling a more attractive and convenient choice for people.

“I would encourage all local residents to take a look at these proposals and have their say.

“It is really important we have a long-term plan in place, which will also help attract more funding to deliver improvements across our network.”
