THE HEAD coach at Redditch Hockey Club has been shortlisted for Coach of the Year at this year’s England Hockey Awards.
Wayne Beard has been in his role for more than 15 years, coaching Under-12 and U14 juniors, supporting the development squad (a mix of new and veteran players), and managing the men’s first team every Saturday.
Beyond the club, Wayne also coaches at the Talent Academy and mentors other coaches, sharing his wealth of experience to support the broader hockey community.
He gives his time selflessly, always putting players first and creating an inclusive, encouraging environment.
A spokesperson for the club said: “Wayne is not only a fantastic coach but also a mentor, leader, and role model.
“His long-standing commitment, combined with his passion for developing players of all ages and abilities, makes him an outstanding candidate for Coach of the Year.”
The winner will be announced tomorrow (Saturday, June 7) at a ceremony in Leicester.
