Redditch Editorial 27th Apr, 2024   0

HEADLESS Cross Community Orchard will once again be hosting an annual May Fayre – from 11am to 3pm on bank holiday Monday, May 6.

There will be live music throughout the day with Arrow Valley Brass, Revenge of The Wrinklies, Debbie and Garth Duo and Turvey scheduled to play.

This year will also feature the fayre’s Freestyle Maypole Dancing, promoting audience participation.

Dancers of all ages can have a go at tying the ribbons around the Maypole.

And there will be local craft stalls selling a variety of products including jams and chutneys from Jacky’s Pantry, wood-turned crafts from Mike Chalk and a variety of crocheted and knitted items.

To add to the family fun, there will be an array of games to enjoy including The Amazing Human Fruit Machine, Splat The Rat, tug-o-war and sack races.

Redditch Round Table will be running the barbecue, featuring burgers and sausages supplied by Rough Hill Rare Breeds.

For vegans and vegetarians delicious homemade soups are promised.

Meanwhile the cider bar will serve home grown cider, made by the Orchard volunteers.

Orchard volunteer Gabby Hemming said: “This is a fantastic free family event.

“It brings the whole community together to celebrate this wonderful green space.

“I look forward to it every year.”

Headless Cross Community Orchard was planted in 2010 by volunteers who continue to maintain the green space.

The orchard is host to many Worcestershire varieties of fruit tree, including the Redditch Doddin apple.
