Head's pride after another year of outstanding results at St Augustine's

THE Principal of St Augustine’s has spoken of his pride in his students after another set of spectacular A Level results, writes Eve Watson.

Three quarters of the sixth form students achieved between A* and C grades, with 63 results between A* and A with the majority of students obaining their first choice of university.

Subjects with 100 per cent results A* to C grades include: Design and Technology, Economics, English Literature, French, German, History, Further Maths and Physics.

Vocational subjects received equal success with 100 per cent of students achieving a distinction* or merit in subjects such as applied science, art and design, business and performing arts.




Dominika Janke received A*AA and will be taking up a place at Cambridge to study English Literature, as well as Haider Ali who received A*A*A* and will be studying mechanical engineering.

Anna Elso achieved AAB and will be attending the University of Leicester and Bethany Blake achieved A*A*A.


Daisy Turner will be studying Physics with Astrophysics at the University of Birmingham and Naoise Creery, who will be studying Physics at the University of Manchester with her grades of A*, A*,A.

George Battle-Welch is going to the University of Warwick with A*AA and Tom Stanton, with AAA, will be attending the University of Sheffield to study Civil Engineering.

Principal Gerald O’Connor said: “We are immensely proud of our students, not just of the extremely high standard of results obtained, but the life skills that they have learnt throughout the process – aspiration, teamwork and resilience.

“They are now in an excellent position to look forward and focus upon the next stage of their future within further education or employment.

” An enormous thank you must go out to our whole school community, to the specialist teaching staff who inspired them, the pastoral team who skilfully guided them at times of need and to parents and carers for their unrelenting support.

” The ethos of Saint Augustine’s ensures that all of our students leave school having reached their full academic and personal potential.”

From August 22, Saint Augustine’s will be recruiting students into its Sixth Form for September 2019.
