Health trust has turned to social media to reach recruits

SHORT of more than 200 nurses and with 140 medical vacancies, the local health trust has turned to social media to reach recruits.

The move, by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (WAHT), is part of a wider initiative which has seen a film crew touring the county, including Redditch, to showcase the attractions of living and working in the region.

As part of ‘Work for us Wednesdays’ last week the team were in the borough extolling the virtues of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre and Church Green before zipping off to Arrow Valley Park.

The day ended on top of the Malverns and featured some of its breathtaking views.

The trust, which runs the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, is no stranger to luring staff from outside the area – chief executive Michelle Mackay flew all the way over from Australia’s Gold Coast to take up the position – and so far the scheme is attracting positive feedback.

A spokesperson said: “Recruiting high quality and permanent staff is one of the Trust’s top priorities and we are using social media alongside our traditional recruitment methods.

“Worcestershire offers stunning countryside, and great transport links to the rest of the country.”
