Help thwart Alcester and Studley car thieves

Redditch Editorial 22nd Jan, 2016 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

A SPATE of car crime has led police in Alcester and Studley to appeal to drivers to do everything they can to minimise the opportunities for thieves.

“Unfortunately we are still experiening overnight vehicle crime and this type of offence is an issue with all our surrounding neighbourhood teams as well,” said a spokesman.

“Removing valuable items from vehicles and good crime prevention will always be a good deterrent to the passing criminal. Crime prevention advice can be found online, but if you would like to speak to a member of our team, please let us know.”

Officers are urging drivers to make sure windows are shut and door locked, to remove keys from the ignition and not leave personal items on display, including sat navs and their holders.

They also urge motorists to park in well-lit areas and not to leave their car unlocked with the engine running while it warms up and defrosts.
