Helping jobless in Redditch get back into work

Redditch Editorial 18th Sep, 2017   0

A SERIES of work academies and job fairs are planned to help jobless people in Redditch back into employment.

Next week the town’s Jobless Centre Plus on Easemore Road is running a retail academy for local businesses B&M and Halfords as they build towards Christmas.

On October 16 a further academy is planned for the hospitality industry with one set for October 30 on warehouse work.

In addition on October 18 there’s a jobs fair at Kohima House off Winyates Way, at the Army Reserve Centre.

The same day the Job Centre will be hosting a fair where people can find out more about employment opportunities at HMP Hewell.

The news comes as jobless figures for 18 to 24 year olds in the town fell by 45 to 180 compared to the same period last year.

However overall the jobless rate for all age groups rose to 935, an increase of five compared to this month in 2016.
