Helping to beat the January Blues in Redditch

A HOST of activities took place at Redditch United Football Club on Blue Monday (January 20) to help combat what is billed as the most depressing day of the year.

‘Tackling Mental Health’ featured talks from The Mind Loft and Koala Tree CIC and there were also active sessions including Walking Football and Just Breathe Yoga and Wellbeing.

The event, organised by Redditch Borough Council which teamed up with Rubicon Leisure and the football club, also provided a safe space for residents to explore the support available to them. Redditch MP Chris Bloore also attended the event.

Coun Juliet Barker-Smith, Redditch Borough Council’s portfolio holder for leisure, said: “I attended the event and watched the walking football and it was wonderful to see the amount of support on offer across the borough.

“I am delighted that, with Rubicon Leisure, we are able to put on these events which showcase groups and organisations that work so hard to be available to support people.

“I look forward to many more and we will continue to share events so that people know who is out there to help them.”
