THE High Sheriff of Warwickshire visited Studley High School recently to meet staff and students.

The Sheriff, Simon Miesegaes, (CORRECT) is the Queen’s representative in Warwickshire for all matters relating to the maintenance of law and order and supporting voluntary and statutory organisations in the county.

After being appointed Mr Miesegaes wrote to Studley High asking to tour the site and explain his role.

He delivered a short assembly highlighting how important it was for young people to ‘do their bit’ to become responsible citizens.

He also introduced ‘Crime Beat’ – a charity aimed at encouraging young people to focus on crime prevention.

Finally, he asked staff and students to consider the ‘unsung heroes’ of school and to nominate them for an award at a formal ceremony next year.

This is a new initiative involving every Warwickshire school to nominate individuals or teams who deserve special commendation for their work supporting others, either in school or in the local community.

School Principal, Lee Gray said: “It has been a delight to welcome Simon to Studley High School.

“His message of community and ‘doing our bit’ is one that resonates with our school ethos.”
