History society takes a look at 'Old' Redditch

Redditch Editorial 6th Apr, 2024   0

FOLLOWING a successful March meeting, Redditch History Society continues its new year of 10 meetings and presentations on both local and national aspects of British history.

The next meeting, on Monday April 8, will include a short review of the society’s activities over the past year and election of the officers on the Executive Committee.

The Society’s secretary will then, as is now customary, introduce some films about aspects of ‘Old Redditch’.

The film show is a popular feature and will include the coverage of the late Queen’s visit to Redditch in 1983, as a tribute to the local filmmaker Mike Johnson, who died earlier this year.

They will also show two short films about aspects of bygone railways – one local and one national.

The History Society meets at the Oasis Christian Centre, 4 Plymouth Road, Redditch, opposite the bus and railway stations, from 2pm to 4pm on the second Monday afternoon each month.

Non-members are always welcome, for a £4 entrance fee, and refreshments are available after the talk for just 50p per person.
