Home visits spark alarm over scam traders

Redditch Editorial 22nd Oct, 2017   0

ROGUE traders have been going round to properties in Warwickshire and offering to clean roofs and solar panels.

The rogue traders have been telling owners that they are working on behalf of the solar panel installers and suggesting that the owners have their roofs cleaned.

The false traders are charging between £1300 and £1700 for their work. This is overpriced and more likely to damage the roof (and solar panels) than clean it.

Owners have been advised not to allow anyone to pressure wash their roofs as it can lead to the tiles lifting and to not buy goods or services from an unexpected doorstop trader.

The crooks may also be using the opportunity to look at people’s home as a possible theft site.

Anyone affected can make a complaint to Trading Standards via Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 03454 040506.
