Hospital needed after Co-op crash

Redditch Editorial 30th Apr, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

A DELIVER driver was taken to hospital after his van crashed into the Co-op in Headless Cross.

It happened after a collision with a silver coloured Audi TT, which was left at the scene by its driver and another man who was a passenger.

Police are searching for both men who had left Evesham Road prior to them arriving shortly after 2.05pm yesterday (Tuesday).

The incident led to a white Mercedes Sprinter van leaving the road and crashing into a wall at the side of the store. There was some damage caused to the brickwork but the store did not have to be closed.

The van driver, a man in his 50s, was taken to the Alexandra Hospital with minor injuries but not detained.

Traffic was directed around the scene but there were tailbacks until the damaged vehicles were removed at 3.30pm.

PC Andy Cadwallader said: “We are still looking for the driver of the Audi, who we understand was hobbling as he left the scene and may have been injured. We also need to speak to the passenger who also left prior to our arrival.

“While some witnesses have already been spoken to I would urge anyone else who may have seen what happened or has any information that could help us to come forward and contact us at the earliest opportunity.”

Anyone with any information should call PC Cadwallader on 101, quoting incident reference number 330-S-290414.
