Housing boom is good news for Redditch's Scotts Timber Engineering

Redditch Editorial 7th Mar, 2017   0

A REDDITCH-based timber firm is celebrating success thanks to the drive to build more houses in the UK.

Scotts Timber Engineering (STE), based at Washford Industrial Estate on Heming Road, has reported a rise in sales after the Government announced further plans to build more homes.

The business, which is celebrating its second anniversary in Redditch, has gone from strength to strength since it was founded in 2013 with the support of established family business, Scotts of Thrapston, a leading supplier of joinery and timber engineering products.

Kevin Lester director of STE, said: “We’re proud to announce the success that STE has had since its conception, four years ago.

“The Government’s plan to tackle the housing crisis has meant that we’ve seen a growing demand for timber roof trusses from the UK’s housebuilders.

“However, I believe it’s because of our high levels of service, excellent quality and our commitment to fulfilling our clients’ needs that has allowed STE to continue to grow.”

Established in Redditch in January 2015, the business has doubled its number of employees in the space of just two years. The rise in business leads has meant the timber engineering company ended the year with a £2 million turnover.

In the past year alone, STE has engineered 20,000 metres of joists and has produced in excess of 17,000 trusses, delivering to national housebuilders, building contractors and self-builders across the central belt of the UK.

As well as trusses and metal web joists, the business has seen an increase in demand for spandrel panels as private housebuilders strive to reach Government targets.

As future plans for 2017 include further growth in this area of the business, STE are now on the hunt for experienced designers to join their cutting-edge team.
