CELEBRATIONS are under way for a Heart of Worcestershire College graduate is in the running to be named ‘Social Worker of the Year’.
The annual Social Worker of the Year Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions of social workers in their field.
Angell Phoenix, who is from Rugby and studied at Redditch’s Peakman Campus, said she was honoured to have been put forward.
“My nomination came from our management team who are incredibly supportive, and I was surprised when they told me they had nominated me.
“Genuinely, that was enough for me.
“That recognition was incredible, and I never thought for a second that I would be selected as a finalist.”
A spokesperson from Heart of Worcestershire College said: “Her incredible efforts have brought about significant changes in the lives of young individuals and families, making her an invaluable asset to the community.
“We couldn’t be prouder of her achievement. Regardless of the outcome, Angell’s nomination alone is an outstanding accomplishment and reflects her contributions to the field of social work.”
