How Redditch will be remembering The Late Queen Elizabeth II

Redditch Editorial 9th Sep, 2022   0

Redditch Borough  Council has announced what it will be doing to remember The Late Queen Elizabeth II.

His Majesty The King will be proclaimed at 10am on Saturday 10th September at the Accession Council in London.

A local proclamation of the new monarch will be taking place which you are welcome to attend.

The Borough Proclamation event will take place on Sunday 11th September at 3.00 pm at the Bandstand, Church Green.

The ceremony will mark the formal Proclamation to the people of the Town of Redditch of the beginning of our new King’s reign and will include an announcement of the accession which took place immediately on the death of the reigning monarch.

This will be one of the first occasions when communities have an opportunity to come together and reflect on the moment in our nation’s history when the reign of our longest-serving Monarch came to an end and our new Sovereign succeeded.

Books of condolence for residents to pay their respects and show their love and support for the Royal Family are open.

  • In person: Redditch Town Hall, opening hours: 9am-5pm, including over the weekends of 10th-11th and 17th-18th September
  • Online: the Worcestershire book of condolence.

Please leave your floral tributes at the Church Green bandstand. Please note that tributes left in other locations may be moved to the bandstand, and that flowers will remain for two weeks before being removed.

Redditch Crematorium’s Chapel, Floral Hall, and Book Room will also all be opened for a special hour on both Saturday 10th and and Sunday 11th, from 10am-11am, for anybody who wishes to share a moment of calm reflection together.

Union Flags are at half-mast until the morning after the funeral, but will be temporarily raised to full mast in recognition of the Proclamations of the new monarch as below.
