HoW students cooking up a treat with Redditch foody fundraiser

STUDENTS from Heart of Worcestershire (HoW) College will be offering tasty treats to raise funds for two good causes.

The event – at the college’s restaurant from 1pm to 3pm on May 14 – will be held in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice and the Haemophilia Society.

The two charities were chosen as they were both close to the students’ hearts.

Grace Thomas and Sarah Berry, both 17, are putting on the fund-raiser as part of their Unit 4 Event Organising module on their level 3 business course.

Grace said: “Ben Black (another student) chose the Haemophilia Society as they helped when his brother faced cancer.

“My sister is life-limited and has been assisted by Acorns which is a lovely charity.”

On offer at the event will be tea, coffee, a selection of sandwiches along with cakes including carrot, chocolate, Victoria sponges, fruit scones and lemon curd shortbread.

There will also be live indie and retro music performed by Grace and Jacob Hill, 15.

Tickets, which include all the tea, coffee, food and entertainment, are £15.
