How the rail strikes will impact Redditch services over the next week

Redditch Editorial 3rd Nov, 2022   0

RAIL strikes are set to severely impact services to and from Redditch over the next week.

The National Union of Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) has announced industrial action impacting Network Rail staff on Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday, November 5, 7 and 9.

RMT members at West Midlands Railway will also be taking action on Saturday and Wednesday, while TSSA members will strike tomorrow, which will affect West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway routes.

There will be a limited service between 7.30am and 7.30pm on the Cross City Line between Lichfield Trent Valley and Bromsgrove and Redditch via Birmingham New Street, with just one train an hour in either direction.

The same service will run between 7am and 7pm on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday.

The first train to leave for Redditch on Friday will depart from Birmingham New Street at 7.53am, and the first travelling to the town from Lichfield Trent Valley leaves at 9.08am.

The final service to Redditch will leave Lichfield Trent Valley at 4.08pm and New Street from 4.53pm.

The first train will leave Redditch station at 8.55am and the final service to Lichfield Trent Valley will depart at 3.55pm, although the last train going to New Street will leave at 5.42pm.

This service is one of just three routes West Midlands Railway will be running on strike days.

The displacement of trains from industrial action will see morning services start later than usual on Tuesday and Thursday, with West Midlands Railway expecting trains on many of the routes not to start until 8am.

Passengers are advised to delay their journeys if possible on mornings following industrial action to avoid the busier services.
