Hundreds of people got a hot meal on Christmas Eve thanks to volunteers

MORE THAN 175 people were given a hot meal on Christmas Eve thanks to Redditch Labour Party and volunteers.

The festive event was started 14 years ago and was organised this year by Councillor Bill Hartnett.

Supporters came together to help prepare and deliver meals across the borough to residents young and old.

Coun Hartnett said: “We have been doing this for over a decade. We prepare, cook and deliver a main course with a box of mince pies – this year we provided around 175 meals.

“It was funded by donations from Labour members and supporters and our most sincere thanks also go out to St Andrew’s Church and Morrisons supermarket, for their kindness in helping to make this happen.”
