HUNTLEYS of Redditch held a special garden party on Tuesday to celebrate more than 140 years in the town.
The day also marked the opening of its new memorial garden and borough Mayor Jenny Wheeler was on hand to officially cut the ribbon.
It was an opportunity for the Ipsley Street undertaker to share its history with guests, who included the winners of their Mother’s Day and Father’s Day competitions.
They were able to place their plaques to their very own dedicated rose bushes in memory of their loved ones.
Funeral arranger Samantha Pitt said: “The garden offers our families a peaceful place of reflection and remembrance.
“We have named it ‘The Mary Bough Memorial Garden’ in memory of woman who was the original owner of Huntleys together with her sons and it is through their hard work and dedication and that of Huntleys staff that we are able to celebrate this milestone.”
She added: “We received two lovely benches from RS Paving & Landscaping and Where Next Association which have made beautiful additions to the garden and we would like to personally thank these companies for their kind donations and their time and effort in making these for us.”
Earlier this month Huntleys held a quiz night at the Oast House in aid of Where Next and was able to hand over a cheque for £400 to the local charity.
“We would like to again, extend our thanks to all those who kindly donated for the cause and our thanks to the Oast House for allowing us to use their premises for the event. It was a great success,” said Samantha.
