Illegal bikes seized

Redditch Editorial 2nd Jun, 2014 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

INCREASING levels of illegal motorbike riding have seen two bikes seized.

Police took two motorbikes from Ash Tree Road and Plymouth Road after the riders were found to have no insurance.

In total, 23 incidents have been reported across Redditch over the past month including incidents of motorbikes, mini motorbikes and mopeds being ridden on footpaths in the Woodrow, Lodge Park and Greenlands areas.

Anyone owning a mini motorbike needs to have a valid driving licence, compulsory basic training certificate, insurance, a tax disc displayed, registration plate, MOT and helmet.

A spokeswoman said: “It is also illegal to ride motorbikes and mopeds on footpaths and of course is a danger to the rider and others.

“As part of their investigation, officers are working to identify those who are riding their motorbike illegally or anti-socially in Redditch.”

Anyone with any information about incidents should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
