A SIZEABLE crowd of people gathered at the Cenotaph in Plymouth Road today to mark Armistice Day.

As ever it was subtly different from the Remembrance Sunday parade with a quieter, more reflective air.

The service was led once again by Rev Paul Lawlor as the gathering marked 107 years since the guns fell silent on the Western Front at 11am on November 11, 1918.

Joining him were serving members of the armed forces, veterans and members of the Royal British Legion and leading dignitaries, including Borough Mayor Coun Joanna Kane and Council Leader Sharon Harvey.

People came together to sing hymns – Abide with Me – and finished the service with the National Anthem.
