Inner Wheel reinvent festive event in face of Covid-19

Redditch Editorial 12th Jan, 2021   0

THE inventive ladies of Redditch Inner Wheel launched an online Christmas catalogue when Covid-19 put paid to their annual festive coffee morning.

There was knitting, sewing, freshly baked cakes and shortbread, flower arrangements, crafting, potted bulbs, home made marmalade and jam and honey all on offer.

They even compiled a calendar of photographs of their gardens taken during lockdown.

The catalogue was circulated by email to members and orders started flying in.

To bolster their fundraising efforts for good causes, they also organised an online raffle and guess the weight of the cake competition.

All the items were collected by the joint presidents, or brought ready for delivery around Redditch, Inkberrow and Dormston.

Everybody was delighted with the items they had paid for while the presidents’ chosen charity for this year, Mummy’s Star, which supports women who have been diagnosed with cancer whilst pregnant, will receive a cheque for more than £1,000 thanks to their efforts.
