Interactive bees experience in Redditch's Kingfisher Centre promises buzz

A NEW interactive experience about bees is coming to Redditch’s Kingfisher centre for four days from next Saturday (July 19) to July 22.

‘Miracle of the Bees’ is a free multi-sensory experience designed to delight and fascinate visitors of all ages.

The event, based in the former FarmFoods store, has been co-created by young people from Imaan Youth Club, artists Vortex Creates and Reimagine Redditch.

The space will be transformed to connect and inspire people through bold, joyful and memorable experiences.

The event is the culmination of The Bee Creative project, a collaboration between Imaan Youth Club and Reimagine Redditch.

Children at the club worked with different artists to explore ‘bee’ themes through graffiti, textiles, Islamic geometric patterns, calligraphy, glass painting, architecture, model making and set design.

Sadiya Ashiq, from Imaan Youth Club, said the exploration through art was a beautiful way for the young people to connect their faith with creativity.

“Surah An-Nahl reminds us of the wisdom and purpose found in nature and this project allowed our children to reflect on that in fun, meaningful ways.

“We’re proud to see their ideas come to life in a public space and to share this joyful experience with the wider Redditch community.”

Richard Bromhall, Reimagine Redditch’s programme director, said the event urged everyone in Redditch to go along and experience something different and exciting,

“We have been on a truly exciting journey with Vortex Creates and Imaan Youth Club.

“The regular creative workshops have led to the creation of a memorable journey for everyone in Redditch and beyond.”

Fiona Faizey, the Kingfisher Centre’s general manager, added: ”It’s fantastic to see such a creative and community-led project come to life in one of our spaces.

“We’re always looking for ways to bring fresh, inspiring experiences to our visitors and this event is a perfect example of how art, culture and community can come together to create something truly special.”
