THE Astwood Bank in Bloom team have received a cash boost to help them continue their green-fingered work in the Redditch community.

Astwood Bank in Bloom was a charity voted for by customers at the Redditch store as part of the Asda Community scheme and Tracey Murphy, Asda Community Champion for the Redditch store, handed over the £200 cheque to Colin Bates and Lesley Jones of Astwood Bank in Bloom last week.

Colin, Chair of Astwood Bank in Bloom said: “It is brilliant how Asda are looking to actively support their local community through their scheme, and we were delighted to hear that their customers had voted for us.

“The money will help us make sure that all members of our community have the opportunity to not only get involved with planting and maintaining, but see the positive impact that the displays throughout the year on our community.

“Over the next few weeks we have a sunflower competition to judge, and then in the Autumn we will be running our second mass bulb planting scheme. Funding, such as this from Asda, means that we can get everyone who wants to be involved in these.”
