STUDENTS at one Redditch school have been keeping on track with their studies – and learning all about possible careers in the rail industry.
In a bid to attract bright new young talent to the expanding rail industry, a team from By Design came into RSA Academy Arrow Vale and delivered a trio of workshops.
The sessions included an introduction to the industry, a segment called ‘Meet an Engineer’, a workshop with team-building robots and a game using Quizdom handsets.
Pupils also looked at the use of technology in rail and tried their hand at designing apps to order food on the train, to stay safe on the platform or carriage and even one to help you build a train from scratch.
A spokeswoman said: “The pupils not only had fun learning new skills but it also gave them food for thought as to what skills would be needed to work in the rail industry, how they could get those skills and utilise them.”
