It's in the bag for Redditch firm as TV's Salvage Hunters come calling

A SPECIALIST Redditch bag and luggage-maker features in the next episode of hit TV show Salvage Hunters – Classic Cars.

Bag World, launched in the town by Colin Surman in 1996, was approached by the producers in July who needed bespoke luggage for a Renault GTA 2.5 V6.

The car had been bought for the series – fronted by Drew Pritchard – with a view to it being restored to its former glory.

Colin said: “As soon as they saw inside the building they said Drew would love it.”

The team then visited Bag World two weeks later to film the bespoke luggage being made.

Colin, who employs 11 people at its Windsor House base, added: “It was great because we are really proud of what we produce and its British heritage – we put a Union Flag on all of our items.

“We have been here in Redditch so long but there are still some people who do not know we are here.

“The show is really popular and broadcast in 63 countries.”

Colin hopes Bag World’s appearance will lead to more calls and visits to the firm’s website.

Bag World has provided colour-bespoke luggage for a range of cars, including Ferraris, Aston Martins, Jaguars and MGs.

The company also supplies bags for medical professionals, DJs, the double-glazing window industry and exhibition firms.

“Anything that needs protecting, we can make a bag for,” added Colin.

The show featuring Bag World will be broadcast at 9pm on Wednesday, February 5, on Quest.

It can also be viewed afterwards at dplay.co.uk/show/salvage-hunters and on catch-up services.
