AS the country prepares to enter 2024, Redditch MP Rachel Maclean has declared that she has ‘delivered on all of the priorities she set out at the start of this year’.
Writing to the Redditch Standard, the MP has reflected on the past year and the results she has delivered for residents.
At the beginning of 2023, Mrs Maclean set out 11 priorities including getting the Garden Suite back to the Alex before 2024, backing policies to tackle illegal immigration and to end the small boat crossings.
She also said she wanted to ensure schools in Redditch continued to receive more funding.
The MP said: “Others can often over-complicate politics, but for me it’s really quite simple: get on, do the job and deliver results – that’s how I’ve always operated as your MP.
“And delivering results is exactly what I’ve been doing. Now we’re just days away from the end of 2023, I’m proud to look back and say I’ve delivered on all of the priorities I set out at the beginning of the year.
“This includes securing the return of the Garden Suite Chemotherapy Unit and more investment in the Alex, levelling up school funding, more money for local bus services, backing policies to tackle illegal migration and much more.
“It remains the honour of my life to be your MP and I’ll keep working flat out next year to deliver on the promises I have made to you.”
The is against a national picture of a revolving door at both No10 and No11 Downing Street, the revelations of the Covid Inquiry and lost WhatsApp messages and the latest PPE scandal over ‘VIP lanes’ for contracts.
The Redditch MP will be looking to hold on to her seat in the town at the 2024 General Election – a date for that is yet to be announced.
