JHC Contractors to the rescue and Redditch Sheds clean up

Ross Crawford 26th Jul, 2020

THE team at Redditch Sheds have given their heartfelt thanks to the lads from JHC Contractors who selflessly answered their call for help in shifting a pile of cutback undergrowth.

Roly Duke, who manages the Sheds community, had appealed through the Redditch Standard for a skip or some means of shifting the cuttings from their current home, at the Sandycroft Centre in Mount Pleasant.

Lee Mackenzie, manager at Sandycroft, had offered Redditch Sheds a home after they were forced to leave their old HQ in Britten Street as it was too small, given the need to maintain social distancing.

In return, the Sheds team offered to cut back and clear the gardens at the award-winning centre – only they were stuck at how to remove the rubbish.

Step forward JHC Contractors and Junior Quadeer who offered to help them out, removing two van loads and clearing the area.

“They were absolutely brilliant – so helpful!” said Roly.

“I don’t want to be too cheeky but we could now do with a bag of gravel to finish off the paths at Sandycroft, if anyone has got any spare…”

Meanwhile, as they finish off Sandycroft, the team are still looking for a permanent home with space for them to store their kit.

Redditch Sheds grew out of the Men in Sheds concept from Australia and is aimed at keeping the vital skills of both men and women alive – as well as offering a social get-together when they retire.

Redditch Sheds meets every Tuesday and Thursday at the Sandycroft Centre off West Avenue.

If someone does have some spare gravel, Roly can be contacted on 07980 374617.
